Algeria: Mobilis leader on 3G, Djezzy tops general market

(Agence Ecofin) - According to the latest report on the state of the Algerian telecom market, released on 30 August 2015 by the Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARPT), mobile network operator Mobilis is the leader for 3G. The mobile network subsidiary of the national operator, Algérie Telecom, has 3.816 million subscribers, followed by Ooredoo (3.438 millions) and Djezzy (1.254 millions). Market shares are distributed as follows: 44.85% for Mobilis, 40.41% for Ooredoo and 14.74% for Djezzy.

In terms of total number of subscribers, Djezzy nevertheless remains leader on the market. Djezzy has 18.612 million consumers, followed by Mobilis with its 13.022 millions. Ooredoo comes in third place with 11.663 million clients. In market shares, Djezzy gathers 49.89%, Mobilis compels 26.46% and Ooredoo pulls up the rear with 23.64%. These good performances impacted on the market which registered an important growth rate of +22.69%.

On the financial side, all three operators present on the mobile telecom Algerian market generated in 2014 revenues estimated at 324 billion dinars (about USD 3 billion). Thus a growth of more than 8% compared to 2013.
